On Monday 19th October I headed up to London for the, Her Medicine, a free event all about women’s health and Medical Cannabis, hosted by We, The Patients together with PatientsCann UK at the Foundling Museum in Brunswick Square.
Who are We, The Patients?
We, The Patients is a patient led Medical Cannabis coalition from across Europe, and their motto says it all… “For and by Patients”. They have spent years campaigning to improve cannabis laws in their own countries and now run free events across Europe, with past events in Zurich, Madrid and London.
Their events bring patients, doctors, carers and advocates together in one room, and they post the talks online so nobody misses out.
Who are PatientsCann UK?
PatientsCann UK is a patient founded and patient led Community Interest Company, run entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. Their motto is “Your rights. Your prescription. Your community.” They offer free education, advocacy, peer support and resources for anyone on their Medical Cannabis journey in the UK.
- An eligibility checker, a directory of clinics and pharmacies and prescription verification.
- Patient rights guides on housing, employment, driving, travel and more, plus letter templates for landlords and employers.
- An education hub covering cannabinoids, terpenes and the endocannabinoid system.
- Community events, a lounge directory and a Discord group where patients can connect.
- Campaigns including Medical Cannabis Awareness Week.
These guys are making sure patients’ voices are heard where it matters. We are big fans of the work! They will be joining us for a Medical Cannabis Celebration here at Cosmic Tree during Medical Cannabis Awareness Week on Friday 6th November!
Why an event just for women?
The Cannabis industry is historically a male dominated sector. As Medical Cannabis is becoming more prevalant and known, more woman are speaking out and standing out in the industry. To have an event dedicated to womans health within Medical Cannabis is a move forward in building greater female representation in this space.
There is also a lack of information, awareness and education in womans health in general, so to have an event dedicated to this subject is a further step forward. A 2021 government survey for the Women’s Health Strategy for England found 84% of people said that at some point they had not been listened to by healthcare professionals. Endometriosis UK’s 2026 report found the average wait for an endometriosis diagnosis is over nine years.
Carola Pérez from We, The Patients reminded everyone that much of the evidence women are asked to rely on to manage their conditions was gathered in male bodies. That says it all!
The talks
The seminars covered endometriosis, menopause, chronic pain and hormonal health, with Dr Shabnam Sarshar, Dr Callie Seaman, Dr Wendy Holden and Danny Andrea, alongside patient Elizabeth Spence and carer Heidi Whitman sharing their lived experience.
It was an amazing opportunity to meet these industry professionals who have already done so much for the Medical Cannabis female community!
Terpene analysis
As well as the seminars, Patients could also bring along their own prescribed medicine for free terpene analysis on the day, run by KAST (Ka Aromatic Sensory Translation).
We are so excited that KAST will be joining us here at Cosmic Tree for our Celebration Party with PatientsCann on Friday 6th November!

An event that worked for patients
So much thought and care went into making the event accessible for everyone. . As Mohammad Wasway from PatientsCann UK said, “An event for women must work for women.”
- A separate, well ventilated room so patients could take their prescribed medication.
- A quiet space for when you needed a breather.
- Step free access.
- A raffle for a Thai dining and massage experience!

Our Cosmic Tree space
We were so proud to be invited to have our own space at the event, sharing what we do here at Cosmic Tree. As a woman owned Medical Cannabis consumption lounge, an event all about women’s health meant a lot to us!
It was lovely chatting with patients, carers and clinicians about our consumption space in Gloucester, where patients can meet others, try out dry herb vaporizer demo devices and relax without judgement and discrimination. Thank you to everyone who came over to say hello!
Finishing with a meditation workshop
The day ended with a meditation workshop, the perfect way to wind down after an afternoon full of information.
