Crochet and Clay Social for Medical Cannabis Awareness Week

What a cosy, creative day! On Thursday 5th November we hosted our Crochet and Clay Social here at Cosmic Tree as part of Medical Cannabis Awareness Week. Hooks, yarn, clay and good company… what more could you want?

What Is Medical Cannabis Awareness Week?

Medical Cannabis Awareness Week is an annual campaign led by patient advocacy group PatientsCann UK. It marks the anniversary of Medical Cannabis becoming legal on prescription in the UK on 1st November 2018. The week is all about raising awareness, sharing patient stories and pushing for better access for patients across the country.

Free Crochet With Roz

We were so happy to welcome crochet artist Roz, who came in to give free crochet tuition and brought along free materials for everyone to use. Whether you had never picked up a hook before or wanted a few tips to take your crochet further, Roz was on hand to help.

A huge thank you to Roz for sharing her skills and her time with our community!

Earthenware Ceramics With Kelly

Over on the clay table, Kelly ran an earthenware ceramics workshop. Newcomers could start a brand new project, while those who joined us last month came back to glaze the pieces they made. It was lovely seeing everyone’s creations come to life with colour!

Once the glazed pieces have been fired they will be ready to take home… we can’t wait to see them finished!

Kelly’s Handmade Ceramics

When she’s not teaching, Kelly makes her own handcrafted earthenware ceramics under Kelly Noble Illustration. Every piece is a one-off, fired at 1000 degrees, so no two are ever the same.

Want to take a little piece of Cosmic Tree home? Browse Kelly’s ceramics in our online shop, or pop in store to see them in person.

Kelly also regularly runs a range of art workshops in Gloucester, including fine art printmaking, acrylic pouring and acrylic painting, at Jolt Art Studios and here at Cosmic Tree. Take a look at our Art Workshops page to see what’s coming up and book your place!

Why Creative Socials Matter

Medical Cannabis Awareness Week is all about bringing people together, and there is something really special about making things side by side. Our socials are a chance for Medical Cannabis patients and friends to meet others, have a natter and relax in a safe, welcoming space without judgement and discrimination.

Medical Cannabis patients also had access to our Storz & Bickel Volcano and gravity bong, free to use throughout the event, so everyone could get comfortable and settle in to their crafting.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a warm afternoon!

Coming Up Next

Medical Cannabis Awareness Week isn’t over yet! Join us for our Celebration Party with PatientsCann on Friday 6th November, 2–6pm, joined by KAST, the terpene testing company.
